The LC-Hispanic Cultural Society,
An Employee Organization of the Library of Congress since 1989
HCS’ mission is to continue to preserve, promote, and share all aspects of the Hispanic/Latino culture among Library of Congress employees through sponsorship of scholarly, educational and cultural activities. With this in mind, we have defined our goals as listed below:
- Offer our knowledge and insight to assist the Library’s Strategic Goals through cultural outreach and awareness. Together we can create a valuable synergy of efforts among LOC strategic efforts and the HCS mission.
- Strengthen relations with other Library employee organizations to continue offering programming that promotes diversity and inclusion while creating momentum and stimulating creativity and innovation.
- Expand the HCS mission to include professional development of its members. HCS members comprise a broad and diverse field of expertise essential to the Library, such as librarians, accountants, technicians and translators, among others.
With your help this could be duplicated within key LOC areas and we will not only successfully achieve our goals, but we will exceed any expectations and leave a legacy. We welcome your thoughts to make this most successful.
All membership dues and donations collected support our mission and our programs including lectures, book talks, cultural performances, and Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations. Sign up today! Send us an email at HCS@loc.gov for more information.
Finally, we also invite you to also stay connected through our Facebook page! Please encourage your friends and colleagues to visit our sites to learn more about HCS and to join!
We look forward to another great HCS year!
